The Greensboro Farmers Markets hosts its annual Tomato Celebration Day! Greensboro chefs and food enthusiastsall unite for a celebration of summer's favorite "fruit."
The Market will offer a "Tomato Taster" plate for a minimum donation of $7. This plate will include samples of:
*Open faced tomato and bacon slider by Chris Scalici of Artistic Cuisine
*Tomato and cucumber salad by Donya Mullins of A Southern Soul
*Tomato consomme by Steve Terrill of Red Chair Dinners
*Tomato Pie by Brandy Sears of Foodie Call of the Triad
*Tomato and Eggs by Ashley Hogan of the Greensboro Farmers Market
A tomato tasting bar will be available as well so patrons can taste over 10 different varieities of tomatoes and vote for their favorite!
Patrons may also purchase a prepackaged "Fried Green Tomato Fixing Kit" to make their own fried green tomatoes at home. The kits will include corn meal from Old Mill at Guilford and green tomatoes from GFM farmers. These kits can be pre ordered and picked up the day of the event while supplies last.
Live music by Laura Jane Vincent and kid friendly activities will be on the Lawn. Event patners include Duke's Mayonnaise, Neese's Country Bacon, Cheerwine as well as Market farmers!
