BROADWAY TO GREENSBORO

The Virginia Somerville Sutton Theatre at Well·Spring presents Bobby Conte.

BOBBY CONTE is a New York-based actor and vocalist most recently seen on Broadway as ‘Cousin Kevin’ in the 2024 Tony Award-nominated revival of The Who’s Tommy. He had the honor of singing “Another Hundred People” by the late Stephen Sondheim in Marianne Elliott’s Tony Award-winning gender-bent revival of Company and made his Broadway debut originating the leading role of ‘Calogero’ in A Bronx Tale, directed by Robert De Niro & Jerry Zaks.

A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, Conte starred as ‘Danny Zuko’ in Grease at the Paper Mill Playhouse and ‘Enjolras’ in Les Misérables at the Muny while pursuing his BFA. He subsequently trained in the UK at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Upon graduation, his New York theatre credits include My Fair Lady directed by Michael Arden and Starting Here, Starting Now directed by its lyricist, Richard Maltby, Jr. Select regional credits include the 30th anniversary of The Who’s Tommy at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre helmed by its original director, Des McAnuff, the 50th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein’s Mass at the Kennedy Center, Jessica Stone’s all-male production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the world premiere of Ken Ludwig’s A Comedy of Tenors, and four seasons at the Muny including the regional premiere of Jersey Boys and a reimagined adaptation of Lerner & Loewe’s Paint Your Wagon.

Conte made his feature film debut in the Academy Award-winning IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK, adapted and directed by Barry Jenkins. Other film/television credits include INTERVENORS, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”, “Madam Secretary” and “The Code”. Conte’s debut studio album, Along the Way, is available on Broadway Records. His touring solo cabaret of the same name premiered at the historic Venetian Room in the Fairmont San Francisco prior to sold-out NYC engagements at Feinstein’s/54 Below and Birdland Jazz Club. As a concert artist, he has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Carolina Philharmonic and as Tony in Oakland Symphony’s concert version of West Side Story. Follow him @bobby_conte.
