Event Details

Greensboro Bound will launch Indie Teen Summer Writing Workshops in June and August 2019. Workshop participants will learn from local writers as they explore different genres in a setting outside of the classroom. The workshops, while writing-centered, will not be writing intensive. Rather, the workshops will offer communication skills development.

Cost | Location: The workshops will take place in Scuppernong Books from 9 am – 12:30 pm. $250 Early Registration; then $275. Seating is limited to 12 participants per week, and is first come, first served. A $75 deposit is required at the time of registration with full payment due three weeks prior to class. Writing samples are not required.

What does registration include?: Registration includes a daily free beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, canned drink) and a healthy snack. On Friday, pizza is provided as a Farewell Send-Off Lunch, 12-1 pm.

Closing Reception: Workshop participants are invited to read during a public program on Friday evening, 7 pm, at Scuppernong Books. (JUNE 28 & AUGUST 16).

Who should take this camp? Any high school student in grades 10 – 12 interested in writing as a serious extracurricular activity or as a college academic track. The workshops welcome all skill levels with the expectation that students will be interactive and engaged.

  • Andrew Saulters from Unicorn Press will lead workshop participants in a bookmaking session
  • Author Krystal Smith will teach an Intro to Speculative Fiction Course (Sci-Fi and Fantasy)
